about the course

What is Therapeutic Presence? How does it apply to the field of Somatics? In a nutshell it is about holding non-judgemental space for ourselves and others, with an ability to attune to physical, emotional and imaginal content. It shifts our encounters away from projection, interpretation and fixing so that we meet ourselves and others exactly where they are. WHAT MODALITY WILL YOU PRACTICE? You will discover the fundamentals and discipline of Authentic Movement practice that arose from the dance movement therapy field and Jungian analysis, given form by Mary Starks Whitehouse and evolved by Janet Adler. WHAT DOES THAT INVOLVE? Expect to be moving in contemplative ways, speaking and listening mindfully, and writing and drawing intuitively. * Exploring the connections of body, mind, and emotions, as well as dipping into the imaginal field. * Discovering the role and skills of both your Inner and Moving Witness. * Practicing non-judgemental seeing and speaking * Applying your experiences to your own practice and your client practice. IS THIS COURSE FOR YOU? A weekend suitable for movement and therapeutic professionals, as well as yoga practitioners/teachers, but open to all curious movers. ACCREDITED 12 hours Professional Development Hours with ISMETA The International Somatic Movement Educator & Therapist Association. DATES & VENUE The course will take place in Cambridge on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th July from 10.30-16.30 YOUR GUIDE Beverley Nolan is a self-confessed life-long learner, engaged in exploring the interconnectedness of body, mind, and movement.
